Lots of weird things have popped up in Walmart and Walmart parking lots, but a man riding a bull is often not on anyone’s bingo card for just about any day. That’s why someone called 911 on the bull rider in a Walmart in Ohio for some reason. Still, whoever that 911 caller was, she likely didn’t expect the cops and the bull rider’s reaction, as the boys in blue ended up treating the bull like a star.
The incident happened in a Walmart parking lot in Alliance City, Ohio, on November 6. According to the Alliance Police Department, the call came in Thursday afternoon from a concerned woman who reported “a male with a cowboy hat riding a whitish bull up and down the parking lot.” Officer Ronald Hook responded to the scene in the 2500 block of West State Street, where he did, in fact, find the man and his bull, named Gus, parked outside the neighboring Tractor Supply Co.
Body camera footage captured the officer’s amused disbelief as he stepped out of his patrol car and said, “I have so many questions.” The rider, who was on his way to a rodeo in Columbiana County, cheerfully introduced Hook to Gus and even offered him a turn in the saddle.
Officer Hook, initially hesitant, eventually accepted the offer and climbed aboard the bull for a quick photo. The Alliance Police Department later shared the moment on Facebook, writing that the cowboy and Gus were just “passing through town” and that the situation ended with smiles all around. In the end, the cowboy wasn’t arrested for riding his bull in the Walmart parking lot.
The 911 Encounter Has Since Gone Viral
The bodycam footage, originally uploaded on the Alliance Police Department’s Facebook page, has racked up more than 66,000 likes and nearly 9,000 shares. The commenters have regarded the video as the one that wins the internet, at least for the next couple of days, until something more bizarre or wholesome happens.
“That video is hilarious. Let him have a little fun you never know what his next call will be,” believes on Facebook commenter. Another one reiterated that, “This is the best thing I’ve seen on the internet today!!!” Meanwhile, the other commenters were pointing out just how much of a buzzkill the 911 caller was, and while she remained anonymous, some have mocked her.
“Someone actually called the police for this lol” laughs a commenter. And because it appears the cowboy was merely trying to save up on transportation costs and opted to just ride the bull instead of hauling Gus with a truck, he also earned some praise, “Let this man save on gas money!! 🤣”
