It is rare nowadays to see a game launch with such high praise. Often, we see a big game releasing with a lot of bugs, glitches, or any other controversy that makes it unplayable for the first few months. But that’s not the case for Arc Raiders. All things considered, the launch has been smooth, with player numbers reaching 700,000. Some Arc Raiders players weren’t happy with overpriced store items or the lack of duo matchmaking, but the North Line update fixes these issues and introduces the first community event to unlock the fifth map.
Duo Matchmaking and Price Adjustments Coming With the North Line Update of Arc Raiders
Earlier today, Embark Studios posted an article titled “Duo Matchmaking and Store Update.” In it, the developers address these issues, saying that they will get a fix sooner than expected. For the duo matchmaking part, some Arc Raiders players started reporting seeing some duo matches these past days, with the studio confirming they were secretly testing the mode. Now, it will be an official feature of the game. However, the matchmaking will still prioritize solo and squad players first, and then duo raiders.
On top of that, one of the biggest criticisms during the game’s launch were the overpriced cosmetics. Fortunately, this has been addressed as well, as the studio mentions some of the store items will get price adjustments. Players who bought items before the price update will get compensated, so if you see some extra Raider Tokens tomorrow, that’s the reason.
Last but not least, the developers also discussed Raider Decks and mentioned that Free Decks will include gameplay items, such as the ones we’ve seen in the current deck, including Kits, Grenades, and more. However, Premium Raider Decks will only include cosmetic and convenience items.
The First Community Event Starts Tomorrow, Leading to Stella Montis
This morning, several sites, such as IGN, reported that the North Line update for Arc Raiders will launch tomorrow. In addition to the abovementioned features, the first community event, Breaking New Ground, will kick off at 10:30 a.m. Here, players will have to work together to clear the path to Stella Montis, the game’s fifth map, which you can already see on the map selection screen. If the community completes the event, everyone will be able to access the new area.
Embark Studios also shared information about new items, including an Energy Pulse Rifle, new grenades, and more. However, the developers also talked about some playstyles coming, such as Lone Wolf and Trailblazer, but it is unclear as to what these playstyles will do. And of course, since we’re getting a new area, the Matriarch and Shredder are coming, with the former appearing in some map conditions, and the latter being exclusive to Stella Montis.
In truth, this is excellent news for all raiders because, while we all saw the roadmap, we didn’t think the first major update would arrive so soon. Yet, despite the new additions that will keep us occupied for many more hours, it is great to see that Embark Studios is listening to community feedback.
