Being involved in any kind of law enforcement as a career is sure to be a stressful job for the most part. However, with the amount of power that comes with these titles also comes a massive amount of responsibility. In a TikTok posted by the account @malloryyyy284, users get to see a total lapse in judgment by police officers. The clip has already gathered around 24K likes and 427K views as this Iowa cop drives around with his weapon on the roof of his squad car.
The TikTok begins with two women driving down the road behind a police cruiser. As the person recording zooms in, viewers can see clear as day, some kind of police rifle on the top of the car. One of the Iowa women can also be heard asking, “Does he know it’s there?” in regard to the firearm. While any kind of weapon being in that situation would spell bad news, the fact that it isn’t even a sidearm but a fully kitted rifle is extremely alarming. The weapon even has a flashlight attachment mounted on one of the rails. Luckily for the officer, the woman driving would signal him during a red light.
Iowa Cop Has TikTok Up In Arms After Dangerous Stunt
The fact that the weapon was clearly not being taken care of properly does not sit well with a lot of social media users. Many would then leave their comments behind to let their feelings about the situation be known. “He turned his camera off before he put it back in the car,” wrote one angry TikTok user. “Why was he acting like you were bothering him?” asked another. “You just got him fired for sure,” joked one commentator. Finally, one other stated, “Someone’s in big trouble.”
As the Iowa police officer would step out of his car at the red light, he would look visibly “Confused” by what he found. However, the person who posted this TikTok would explain in the comments that it was allegedly a different officer who had left the weapon on the roof beforehand. Despite who is truly at fault here, the situation is still not a good look either way.
This was a total brain fart by both Iowa law enforcement officers, and some serious training courses regarding firearm safety obviously need to take place. Thankfully, these young women were at the right place at the right time and were able to warn the officer. Although things could have ended up much worse. At the end of the day, nobody was hurt, but this needs to be a serious wake-up call for this police department.
