Many Chicagoans in Illinois are constantly suffering from one thing or another. However, one of the most recent things affecting people is the recently built Kennedy Expressway. How is it affecting them? Well, it’s been a couple of days since many trucks have gotten stuck beneath the bridge, leading to heavy traffic, frustrated citizens, and a lot of work for towing companies. While some people stayed quiet about this matter, they’ve had enough and are now complaining online regarding this frustrating situation.
Many Chicago Redditors have shared images of trucks stuck under the Kennedy near Irving Park. In the pictures above, you can see how the red truck’s container crashed into the bridge. Naturally, this stopped all traffic until tow truck companies removed the giant vehicle.
While this is a frustrating situation, it is also hazardous because the containers often stay crooked under the bridge and could fall at any moment. Furthermore, it isn’t the first time this has happened. Many Chicagoans claim this has been occurring a lot over the past few weeks, and it would seem that no one is doing anything to solve it.
Another alarming thing is that it isn’t only one citizen complaining about this. Other Redditors have voiced their concerns and shared pictures in different subreddits, to hopefully raise some awareness and stop large trucks from attempting to drive under the bridge.
Even though these situations have been bad for many citizens, the truth is that vehicle towing companies are the ones benefiting from them. You can see a lot of tow trucks trying to fix the accident, and by the looks of it, work will keep booming for them unless the authorities do something to return things to normal.
Many disgruntled Chicagoans have shared their concerns on Reddit, with a few even pointing out that these trucks driving under the Kennedy are ignoring the signs, thus leading to accidents like this one.
“If only we could make little yellow signs that stated the clearance of each bridge,” said one user.
“There’s even a sign on the Irving Park exit that says no eastbound trucks,” commented another person.
In the end, we don’t know when this will stop, or if it will stop. It seems as if we’re just waiting for the next truck to drive under the bridge to stall everyone in the street. We can only hope for the authorities to step in and fix the situation. But the truth is that the only thing we need is for truck drivers to have a bit of common sense and avoid this road if possible.
