Keith Urban Looked ‘Cozy’ With Lainey Wilson In First Performance Following Nicole Kidman Divorce

Sometimes the best way to get over somebody is to get under somebody else, or in country star Keith Urban’s case, alongside somebody else. Keith Urban stepped back into the spotlight, marking his first awards-show appearance since his highly publicized split from Nicole Kidman. The country icon joined host Lainey Wilson onstage at the 2025 Country Music Awards for a warm, nostalgic duet of his 1999 classic, “Where the Blacktop Ends.”

The 2025 CMA Awards delivered one of its most unforgettable moments when Keith Urban made a shocking and unexpected appearance onstage, sending the Nashville crowd into a wild frenzy of excitement and potential bewilderment. The country superstar, who had been rumored to appear following the very public divorce, emerged guitar in hand, instantly turning the live broadcast into one of the night’s biggest buzzworthy events.

He took host Lainey Wilson by surprise, as they performed a cozy duet and led into “Where the Blacktop Ends“. Other country music superstars took to their feet and went wild as the country icon and Lainey looked awfully cozy on stage together.

This is, of course, following the rather intense backlash he received earlier in the day after his performance at Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago, which drew ire across social media. He doesn’t seem fazed, though, not wearing an ounce of stress on his face as he was strutting around on stage like nothing major had happened to him just a couple of months ago.

Nobody really knows what’s next for the estranged couple. Perhaps Kieth will make new music while Nicole Kidman is filming movies and other significant projects, both in front of and behind the camera. We will keep a close eye on them, and hopefully, whatever comes next allows them to get along and find happiness apart.
