The holidays can be a difficult time for many. Whether it’s a strain on your finances, tough to spend time with a family who has different beliefs or opinions than yourself, or just the stress of having to buy gifts, make food, and create the magic that often goes along with the season. This is especially true for many mothers, and one woman from Colorado recently opened up about her struggles during an emotional social media video.
Recently, a Colorado mother sat in front of her camera and had a meltdown after her family was less than cooperative about spending time with her and helping her put up Christmas decorations around the house. The video, posted by user @emergingmotherhood, started off with the woman sitting in her car crying over her hurt feelings.
The mom revealed that all week long, she spends much of her time doing all that she can for her family. That includes running her children to their activities and fun outings. She says that after a Saturday of doing nothing but giving for her children, she only asked that they decorate for the holidays the next day in return.

The Denver mother even attempted to make the decorating fun by offering to go get breakfast and coffee for the family so that they could eat, get awake, and start sharing in some Christmas cheer. However, things did not go as planned. Instead, her kids complained about having to decorate, and even the type of breakfast that their mother was planning on buying.
“The thing I [expletive] hate about being the mom is that you have to spend all of your time giving. We’ve been up for two hours and nobody gives a [expletive]. I gotta bribe you to do my [expletive]. I do my [expletive] for you, because I’m your mom and I love you, and I gotta bribe you to do my [expletive] with me?” she rants as she wipes away tears. “I wanna feel like I matter too,” she adds.
Sadly, it seems that many other mothers could relate to her feelings. The internet quickly jumped in to offer words of kindness and advice for the struggling mom.
“Christmas magic is just a mom who cared,” said one person. “If they had any idea how many times we cry alone in our car because of them,” another person wrote. “Girl I feel this in my soul… it’s so exhausting,” a third person added. “This is beyond accurate,” a fourth comment read.
Hopefully, this Colorado mother can find a way to enjoy her holidays and get her family on board, because she deserves a little Christmas magic of her own.
