Soulframe is very much similar to its bigger sci-fi sister game, Warframe, where it also chucks you into an alien environment, and it’s up to you to figure things out. Tutorials will certainly improve as the game further marinates in development, but for now, we’re all fending for ourselves. Luckily for you, we’ve also done much of the fending, and we have some sage wisdom for you in the form of this starter guide, particularly with what class or Pact to pick.
Which Starting Pact to Choose in Soulframe?

Those coming from Warframe might also find this aspect of Soulframe confusing, but Pacts are simply the classes in the game. The big difference compared to other fantasy RPG “classes” is that Soulframe allows you to change classes or Pacts on the fly (outside of combat). Of course, you’ll still have to level up each Pact, meaning the Pact you choose is rather important if you want to focus on a specific type of gameplay.
Currently, there are three Pacts in Soulframe with which new players are presented:
| Pact | RPG Archetype | Skills/Abilities |
| Tethren | Melee and offense | -Fellus (melee damage buff) -Call of Ancients (draws your enemies) -Clash (AoE stagger and stun) |
| Sirin | Ranged and stealth | -Picktrix Powder (blinds and weakens enemies) -Trick of the Light (decoy that draws enemies) -Glamour (invisibility) |
| Oscelda | Magic and support | -Bestone (immobilize your enemies) -Elderbloom (area healing) -Phantom Flock (temporary unkillable minions) |
Each Pact comes with a different starting weapon and determines the appearance of your Envoy’s right arm. Tethren gets melee weapons, Sirin gets bows, and Oscelda gets staves or other magic-oriented weapons. You can freely swap weapons between Pacts with no restrictions, but know that some Pacts give a bonus to specific weapon types, something to keep in mind.
Pacts also have different skills or abilities, some of which fit better with certain weapon types or playstyles. Pacts have a max level of 30, and using them in combat can level them up. To get an idea of what each Pact does, we recommend leveling all three starter Pacts to at least Level 10 to unlock all of their abilities so you can decide for yourself which playstyle to commit to. Of course, nothing is stopping you from maxing them all out.
Special Pacts
As you progress through Soulframe‘s quests and unlock Ancestors and save corrupted beasts, they can lend you their power, and at times, these can take the form of Pacts, which are more advanced than the starter ones. The difference is that they’re not readily available, and you need to work towards obtaining these Pacts.
- Ode Tempest (Silent Rose and Alca’s Children factions)
- Mora’s Hand (Kith of Kings faction)
- Garren Rood (The Torment Stag quest/fable)
- Orengall (The Shewolf Snared quest/fable)
- Bromius (The Waste Bear quest/fable)
These advanced Pacts all have different abilities and offer new playstyles and build opportunities for your Envoy. As the game receives more updates, you can also expect more Pacts to be introduced to Soulframe, along with their corresponding activities and fables. So, best stay tuned.
