Microtransactions have been a thorn in gamer’s sides for the last few years. Incomplete games, pay to win structures, loot boxes, you name it. Thankfully it seems that developers are getting the memo. So much so that Cliff Bleszinski and Bosskey are altering a promotion for their upcoming Early Access game Radical Heights, following user feedback that questioned the pricing structure.
Earlier today on Twitter, user Bill Shatford brought up an issue regarding Radical Heights’ premium in-game currency, known as rad gems, stating it seemed like pay-to-win. While the Bosskey boss assured him it was merely for cosmetically purposes, further inquiry revealed that it could possibly be used for pay to win purposes.
Theres premium currency called rad gems which is what I presume you use to buy the cosmetics but also there is the CASH which you can buy stuff from vending machines
However you can buy the CASH for real money as well as a "cash boost"
So that seems very pay to win :( pic.twitter.com/urEuGXwyt9

As a result, the Radical Heights official Twitter account announced that they would be removing the +10% Cash Boost from the Founder’s Pack before launch. Incentive for the Founder’s pack will now be placed on more RAD GEMS, which can be used for the purpose of buying cosmetic items.
The change takes place just a few hours after the game’s announcement, proving that Early Access games can take constructive feedback and apply it for positive outcomes.
Radical Heights looks to be the next battle royale shooter to take the world by storm, following in the footsteps of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds and Fortnite. The free-to-play shooter will be set in 2023, presented with an 80s-inspired aesthetic.
“This is a five-month passion project for the studio as we’re creating and publishing the game entirely by ourselves,” said creative director Zach Lowery. “We’re huge fans of Battle Royale games along with the bright, inviting irreverence of the 80’s aesthetic. Because of that, we want to put our own spin on the genre and create a futuristic 80’s world that takes place in 2023 during an over-the-top game show where contestants battle it out for fame and prizes.”
Radical Heights releases to Steam Early Access April 10th, 2018.
