The cheapest lady in Florida might have been found, as it has been revealed that a woman, who claimed she was unable to pay the rent, had the most delusional solution to her and her roommate’s housing issues: getting evicted.
The story was summed up by TikTok user trel.c (Trel). She explained that she got into a bit of a pickle with her former roommate earlier this year. The unnamed woman, who, according to Trel, didn’t have a bank account and had an expired ID, told her she was moving out.
Trel, hearing how the woman wanted to be closer to her family, completely understood. After all, the lease was due to end in May, and it was February. Her roommate paid her part of the rent during February and March, but everything changed in April.
Trel was bombarded by her Florida roommate, who constantly complained about how expensive her move was going to be. Things only got worse when they received an eviction letter, which Trel had been expecting, as she knew both of them were having financial issues. However, she planned to pay the rent regardless.
However, when she asked her roommate to pay her half of the rent and, given that they had received an eviction letter, her roommate offered the most unusual solution to their financial issues.
“I can’t pay this right now,” the woman said, according to Trel. “I have to prepare for my move. We’re gonna have to get evicted. I can’t pay it.”
Paying Rent, Blocked, Reactions
The TikToker, understandably left aghast by the non-solution, tried to figure something out with the leasing office. Unfortunately, there was nothing to be done: they needed to pay the rent. While her roommate continued complaining about how “everything is so expensive,” she eventually paid her half of the rent. After all, they needed somewhere to stay before the lease was over.
However, to Trel’s shock, her roommate’s “move” turned into a whole road trip of epic proportions. Despite her mentioning how expensive everything was, she managed to book hotels and Airbnbs and even buy portable chargers.
May, however, came by, and Trel had to pay the rent by herself, as her roommate claimed she didn’t have any money. Not even $100, according to her. She, however, promised she would pay her back.
Knowing for a fact that she would not do so, Trel kept part of her roommate’s paycheck and sent her the rest of the money. Then, she proceeded to block her and never heard from her ever again. Well, except for a long email, which was partially ignored.
Users agreed that the Florida roommate’s solution was nonsensical and straight-up reckless. One user commented, “Not paying rent is never an option.” Another one wrote, “Eviction is soooo bad it follows you for such a long time.” A third one added, “She was never going to pay you back, you did what had to be done lol.”
Nothing like planning an expensive road trip while refusing to pay the rent and suggesting getting evicted instead. That lady is a class act.
