A man in California got to live most kids’ dreams of being a superhero. The “Mexican Spider-Man” recounted how he saved multiple lives during a shooting with just his instinct and a bowling ball. In an interview video posted on X, the man shared, “I saw the White boy walk in, and my natural human instinct was like ‘shooter, shooter.’” Despite the alarm he raised, he said the people there did not pay any attention to it.
The superhero recalled that even his cousin, who was right beside him, did not believe him until he shoved him to the ground. The others, however, only believed after they heard the shots. Recounting every detail from the experience enthusiastically with demonstrations, the man recalled that they all ran until they got to an area with no exit. He noted that in the heat of the moment, an Asian lady tried to hand him her child, leaving him confused: “I’m like what? I’m trying to not get shot and die.”
The local recalled how he tried to kick down the window to create an exit for himself and those with him, but to no avail. “I used to play soccer, so I could kick hard. Nothing was working,” he stated. Thankfully, he saw a bowling ball on the floor, which he used to smash the window in, helping many escape. “I’m just a Mexican Spider-Man at this point, right?” he joked, saying he hoped he would not be charged for damaging the window.
The clip quickly spread across the Internet, sparking numerous comments and reactions. “Lord have mercy, ‘Mexican Spider-Man’ really said no Web shooters, just vibes and a bowling ball. A woman tried to hand him her baby; he’s fighting for his life, and suddenly, he’s the community superhero. Marvel better call him, the multiverse is getting weird 😂,” one user joked. “‘I saw the White boy walk in, and then my natural human reaction and instinct was like ‘shooter, shooter!’ This had to be my favorite stereotype,” another jested.
A few got serious. “Hero or not, that’s real instinct under pressure. Hope police catch the suspect soon,” a netizen said. “Heroic act in a terrifying situation. His quick thinking and bravery likely saved lives. Hope they catch the suspect soon,” another added. One user made reference to the man’s sports background, writing, “Sounds like multiple sports helped this man lead people to safety.” While another said, “He got some survival instincts. They better not charge him. He saved lives. They chose the right person to tell the story.”
A netizen pointed out the man’s storytelling prowess, “This guy needs to be on all the late-night talk shows. Hilarious.” A last one chimed in, “I’m glad he was able to help people, but calling himself ‘Mexican Spider-Man’ got me dead lol.” According to The New York Post, the shooting began outside Macy’s store at the Westfield Valley Fair in Santa Clara, leaving three victims. Officers disclosed that all injuries were not life-threatening and the victims have been rushed to the hospital.
