We might all have done something in the past that we regret, like overspending, overdrinking, missing out on opportunities, and the like. But one particular hospital worker in New York City has done something she now absolutely despises, regrets, and even implores others not to follow her decision: getting tattoos. Well, it’s not the act of getting tattooed that she says is bad; it’s getting styled with body art that young people in particular will later wish they’d never gotten.

“Young people.. please don’t be like me and get tattoos that you’ll regret in the future,” the healthcare worker begs on r/mildlyinfuriating. “I hate these so much.” According to her story in her post’s comment section, the woman got her tattoos when she was 18 years old but deeply regrets her choice, now at age 25. Her post displays a photo of the body art on her hand and later shows a few on her neck and face as well. The New Yorker states she plans to save up for the laser removal, but as we all know, it’s going to be very expensive.

One person noted that the removal cost will be “usually like 5x-10x the cost of the tattoo,” and they’re not wrong. On top of the process being lengthy and extending over multiple sessions, people with tattoos should be prepared to fork over a large investment out of their pocket. “Removal is super expensive. The tattoo im getting removed cost me $400, removing it cost $1900,” states a Reddit user. That said, the NYC hospital worker will likely need to pay thousands to get rid of hers completely.

The New Yorker’s Tattoos Are ‘Ugly and Unprofessional’

As to why the woman regrets getting her tattoos so much, her personal answer is simple: “they’re ugly and unprofessional.” She also expressed how some people even treat her differently when they notice her body art. For instance, “a bus driver saw them and asked me if i was in a gang 🥲,” she recalled. She explained that the reason she got them in the first place was that it was just an impulsive purchase after she received her first paycheck.

Of course, there’s nothing wrong with getting a tattoo you’re proud of, especially if you’re fully prepared to appreciate it for a lifetime. But as the woman of this tale said, young people, specifically, probably should avoid getting any body art on a whim. Otherwise, it’ll be both stressful and very expensive to remove it in the future.
