Sometimes, the most outrageous things can happen, even if they sound completely unimaginable, like getting slices of cheese instead of chicken nuggets. The two, you’d imagine, would be very easy to differentiate, yet one McDonald’s worker in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, somehow missed the mark of a customer’s order by an extreme margin. “I ordered a 6-piece chicken nuggets and got like 8 slices of cheese instead,” the customer posts on r/mildlyinfuriating, showing a photo of their bizarre order on Reddit.
“HOW DOES THIS HAPPEN?” the Philly customer exclaimed. Sure enough, their chicken nugget box is filled with slices of cheddar cheese. One highly downvoted Redditor in the post’s comment section put in their doubts that the photo was actually real, questioning if the customer didn’t just put cheese into the box and upload it. In a reply, OP shared a screenshot showing what their order was for the McDonald’s drive-thru pickup. And indeed, a 6-piece chicken nugget pack was present.
Fortunately, this mildly infuriating story does have a happy ending, in that the customer claimed that McDonald’s reimbursed their order hiccup with a six-piece reward, meaning they didn’t lose anything. As to how this mistake even happened in the first place, some people have a few theories.
One person remarked that the worker must have been really high to mess up the order, while others, claiming to have worked in fast food, said that they often used chicken nugget boxes as mini storage containers while cooking and sorting. “Worked in McDonald’s, this 100% happens. I’ve had people order just a box of pickles,” one individual says. So, the case might have been that someone else ordered extra cheese slices with their meal, but the box of nuggets was mixed up with the cheese.
These sorts of mixups can happen with delivery services, too, like when a Minnesota resident got expensive cat litter instead of the Starbucks coffee they ordered. It sounds absurd to the point of being unbelievable, but it happens and sure makes a funny story to share online.
