Racism is a line that should never be crossed. Beyond escalating any argument, it deepens social divides and can cause long-term psychological and emotional damage. With that context, a startling incident unfolded inside a Goodwill store in Mount Pleasant, Texas, when a customer became racially abusive toward a worker for speaking Spanish. The video is now circulating widely online.
The clip takes place at a counter in a Goodwill store, and sees the Texas man wearing a navy stripy t-shirt and orange shorts. While the build-up before the altercation occurs isn’t shown, the customer reportedly became irate because one of the employees was speaking Spanish. The worker who is recording the incident approaches him, and asks, “Sir, are you the one who hates [racial slur]? I’m an American citizen.” To this, the man rudely replies loudly with, “Yeah! [racial slur]! [racial slur]! [racial slur]! ‘Cause you’re immigrant.“
The female employee attempts to reason with the angry MAGA man, saying, “Listen. I’m gonna do something. I am not a [racial slur]. Okay?” This does not placate the irate customer at all, however, and tensions continue to escalate. “I don’t give a damn way. You’re immigrant. Immigrant!” yells the man, angrily.
As the confrontation intensifies, the employee seems to speak a few words of Spanish, and the customer retorts mockingly, “No speak English. I don’t speak English. No comprendi. I didn’t ask you to come here.” In response, the worker states, “Yes I do, sir. I’m speaking English, Smile for the camera, sir. What is your name, sir?” The furious shopper sarcastically fires back, “Goofy. That’s what my god damn name is.” as he puts his money on the counter to pay for his items.
Toward the end of the clip, police can be seen speaking with the customer in the parking lot. He doesn’t appear remorseful about his behavior. Instead, he continues to call the employee a “[expletive]” and repeatedly yells “immigrant” at her. It remains unclear whether he faced any charges.
As the viral footage spreads across social platforms, users are widely condemning the man’s rude and racist conduct. On Reddit, one user wrote, “Every person in the video is a product of immigration” while another jokingly added, “Is this Peter Griffin’s evil twin?” Elsewhere, over on Instagram, one commenter brutally declared, “Disaster of a human…. MAGA would be proud to see more animals like this“.
Although the heated altercation ended without injuries, one point is unmistakable: racism is unacceptable in any form, and the customer’s conduct was wholly out of line.
