There is nothing more healing and heartwarming than seeing a celebrity give back to children. Even when celebrities make it big, they tend to leave their roots in the place they used to call home. This is a reality for Abbott Elementary creator and star Quinta Brunson. Having grown up in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, she recounts the amazing memories she made in her school years. Some of her best memories were during field trips. She’s now giving back to children in Philadelphia schools in the most amazing way.
A TikTok video posted by @where.to.next1 shows what Quinta decided to do to give back to children in Philadelphia. Her Quinta Brunson Field Trip Fund will provide field trips to underserved children in Philadelphia schools. This was incredibly vital for Quinta to do for Philly children because it holds a special place in her heart. Having grown up in Philly, Quinta said that field trips were among her best memories at school. According to her, they “opened my world, sparked my creativity, and helped me imagine a future beyond what I saw every day.”
The funds would provide field trips for over 117,000 students, allowing them to visit museums and landmarks in and around the city. According to Quinta, “Going somewhere new shows you that the world is bigger and more exciting than you believe.” She continues, “I’m proud to support Philadelphia students with experiences that remind them their dreams are valid and their futures are bright.”
Quinta’s generosity didn’t end there, however. She also donated an astounding $25,000 to the Groceries for Good program in Philadelphia. This will help feed children who experience food insecurity. In addition to providing meals to children, offering them the opportunity for field trips will enhance their overall learning experience. Field trips have been shown to improve children’s grades and even encourage them to earn a higher income after graduation. Her efforts are making all the difference in the lives of so many children, and we’re here for it.
Quinta’s support doesn’t end with just students. She also supports giving back to teachers. Quinta’s love and support for educators led her to create Abbott Elementary, which many teachers still love today. In her own words, she says, “I felt that I couldn’t make a show like this without also doing something to try my best to assist teachers in a positive way.” This is a woman who cares about community and the lives of children in the most admirable way.
