Ageing can be dangerous, especially if you try to ignore the newly imposed limits of your once invincible body. If you don’t believe us, then at least take one Missouri man’s case as a warning; he tried to push his old bones and joints to the limit in a recent party game, only to snap and fracture his femur or thigh bone, which is only the biggest and strongest bone in the human body, mind you.
James Weishaar, presumably in his 30s or older, is the unfortunate man in question, and the shocking accident happened to him on Thanksgiving with his in-laws in St. Charles County, Missouri. Weishaar was playing a party game called “Eat the Bag,” where you have to bite off a paper bag on the floor without your other body parts touching the floor, apart from your two feet. The game requires flexibility and musculoskeletal strength, something Weishaar’s body might have forgotten it once had, hence the snap:
It appears Weishaar twisted his femur or thigh bone too much, causing a rather painful and loud spiral fracture, which rendered him unable to stand or walk. The family members quickly called the ambulance, and Weishaar was rushed to the hospital for immediate aid. In a follow-up post, Weishaar himself revealed that he’s now fine and the fracture is currently healing after doctors inserted a metal rod in the broken femur and bolted the fractured bone shards.
People online are worried that something else led to the fracture
In Weishaar’s defense, the was a rather competitive atmosphere, he claimed, “We were over at the in-laws, and they were all super competitive. So I made it through the first couple of rounds and just couldn’t let my wife win… so I pushed myself a little too hard.” And while Weishaar seems fine now, he should probably avoid some competitive physical party games for the time being, or for the rest of his life.
Still, a lot of people were worried and took plenty of guesses about what might have caused the rather abrupt and unexpected snap. “I didn’t even know that was possible,” comments a viewer, with another replying, “ESPECIALLY THE FEMUR. Literally the largest single bone in our body.” Femurs are indeed supposed to be the strongest bones in the body and shouldn’t snap so easily.
“Femur isn’t supposed to break like that. There’s gotta be something else going on, medically,” wonders another commenter. Hence, some viewers also advised Weishaar to have a thorough bone check or perhaps increase his milk intake, “I told him to get his bone density checked 😂 I’m a surgical first Assist and a spiral fracture is the very worst & the hardest to get and I honestly can’t believe that that’s all it took😂😂😂 poor guy! 😱😱😱” with another saying “Drink some milk my guy.” Sound advice.
