A woman in Chicago, Illinois, initially gained the sympathy of many, saying that she had been banned by her husband from speaking with their neighbors. When she revealed the reason, however, the internet sided with the man: apparently, her creepy nature and her nosiness made coexisting with others almost impossible.
The anecdote was shared by the woman herself, TikTok user healthybutno, also known as Ashley Cast. The creepy vibes started with a nonchalant conversation with Ashley’s neighbor, a couple that she had never personally met before. Apparently, they drove to her driveway looking for their chickens.
When the neighbors revealed where they actually lived, things started to go downhill in the comfort department. After hearing they lived up on a hill, Ashley repeatedly said, excited, that she knew “exactly” where they lived, given that she hunts nearby. She, unfortunately, didn’t stop there.
“I watch you come home from work and go to work all the time,” Ashley said casually.
Of course, the Illinois couple was immediately creeped out and began staring at Ashley, shocked by her words. Without taking a hint, Ashley then correctly guessed how far from their home the man and the woman worked. She, apparently, based her assumption on the times the couple left and returned to their home.
Couple Freaks Out, Reactions
Feeling the awkwardness reach unprecedented levels, Ashley tried to fix things. She said, “Oh, but I don’t watch you on Saturdays. I know that you don’t leave your house on Saturdays. Your car is always there.”
Ashley’s husband, who was probably as freaked out by her as the couple was, just said, “Ashley!” in an effort to make her stop. She didn’t, and she asked the couple where they go to church on Sundays, given the fact that they leave their house for two hours every morning.
Ashley’s social interaction fate was sealed. “I did not make anything better, and we’ve never seen them again,” she said. “And now my husband doesn’t want me to talk to anyone ’cause he says that I come across creepy.”
Everyone seemed to agree with Ashley’s husband in the comments, even regarding him as a Saint.
“Do they have for sale signs in their yard yet?” one user commented. Another one wrote, “I was so mad at your husband until you kept talking.” A third one added, “First sentence believing we all need to save you, then dang it, you’re making me defend a man.”
Creepiness aside, it looks like Ashley meant well with her interest in the Illinois couple’s schedules. That said, they are probably changing their locks at this very moment.
