Now I am become death, speedrunner of worlds. Darksiders II re-released the Deathinitive Edition in October of 2015, published under Nordic Games. Notable changes from the original, graphics aside, include balance adjustments and an improved lighting engine. The franchise’s fate was pretty shaky for a while, but it’s back on track and prepping for the third game in the series (Fury represents the horseman of famine). But you didn’t come here for a history lesson. You came for a Darksiders II speedrun, and that’s what you’re going to get. Do note before you begin, that the game’s audio is replaced by a background track, and it mutes for a while partway through for some reason.
The video above isn’t the world record run, but it’s very close. SnowySnowWolf holds the world record for the regular and the NG+ categories in Darksiders II Deathinitive Edition, and second place for the original title. There aren’t a lot of categories for either version, primarily just any% regular and any% NG+. No worries, Snowy is a fun runner to watch with a wide variety of games to choose from. You can find the NG+ run on that page as well. Interestingly, there’s not a lot of time difference between the two – only a few minutes, really. That holds especially true for the original version of the game, with the fights being much faster and, therefore, less interesting.
Whew. Feel like you need a break from the grueling, heavy action of Darksiders II? Try out the much lighter but still pretty awesome Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon. And let’s all look forward to this year’s E3. We’re expecting some major titles to make a return to the spotlight. Let us know which games you’re most eager to see there and know that we’ll be covering it all.
