Unfortunately, the United States has been undergoing various changes that are affecting the way decent people and some business owners interact with one another. It’s safe to say that the political climate is a major factor, with people from all walks of life being discriminated against and looked down on. In Missouri, a woman was kicked out of and allegedly banned from a charity shop after management discovered who exactly she was giving her purchased goods to: homeless people in a different county.
This video was posted to TikTok by @femme.and.fury, a woman who frequently posts about her viewpoints on today’s political and social climate. In this particular instance, she was shopping at The Good Samaritan Shop in Lamar, Missouri, when she was suddenly approached by the owner, an older male gentleman.
According to the original poster, the manager of the shop will “do things like double prices (just for me) on items I buy in bulk like used socks and gloves. This has been happening for years but this is the first time trying to speak with the owner.” The video consists primarily of a back-and-forth conversation between the owner of the shop, who seems not willing to apologize or de-escalate the situation.
Femme.and.fury adds additional context for why this was happening to begin with, saying, “this started today because the manager was in the back room YELLING about how it’s not right that I buy stuff and distribute outside their county. She could be heard through the whole store (this happens regularly). This is the first time I’ve tried to talk to the owner about it.” Just from what I’ve seen, it looks like she doesn’t succeed.
Lamar, Missouri Charity Shop Allegedly Kicks Woman Out for Distributing Clothes to Homeless
Tons of people filled the replies with their opinions, which primarily include condemning the store owner and manager’s behaviors. One of the top comments in particular said, “Telling an already calm woman to calm down is dangerous work. We have all been too quiet about discrimination for too many years. The resistance is going to be F ing LOUD.“
Other people jumped straight to conclusions, painting a picture of who the man likely is, saying, “We know who he voted for,” referencing his likely allegiance to Donald Trump. The video ends with Femme.and.fury being kicked out and then banned from the store, despite being a frequent paying customer.
