Connecticut can be an interesting place at times. Folks who live there can often feel like they’re trapped, trying to claim they’re from either Boston or New York, basically anything to prevent admitting they’re from the Nutmeg state itself. A TikTok influencer essentially made a video about daily life in Wilton, Connecticut, and how boring and mundane it is, with locals jumping in to defend (and sometimes roast) their home. Funny or not, it definitely struck a nerve, and here is what they had to say about it.
In a post shared in the Connecticut Reddit thread by user Competitive Mall 662, TikTok influencer Alexacurtisunfiltered went on about daily life in the small town of Wilton. She has made a few of these kinds of videos about the state before, and all of them have one thing in common. As she goes on about her moment-to-moment experience in these small towns, you get the gist that Connecticut just isn’t that interesting. As a New England resident myself, it’s not shocking that oftentimes the most interesting news on any given day was how much traffic the local Dunkin’ Donuts had. Her content drew the ire of the locals, with most disparaging her attempts at humor with insults, while some others gleefully admitted the truth: Connecticut is pretty boring, and here is what they had to say about the video in question.

“Seems like everyone has moved on from trying to be an influencer to trying to be a social media comedian. Somehow it’s even worse.”

As you can see, many folks are pretty upset about the whole exchange, and despite most of the video being true, you can see how defensive people get when their home is being slandered.
