There are many reasons someone may need to visit an emergency room, and none of them should be dismissed. That said, hospitals typically prioritize patients based on the severity of their condition rather than the order in which they arrive.
In Atlanta, Georgia, a man claimed he went to a hospital seeking treatment for kidney stones but was ignored by staff. He later recorded and shared a video on TikTok that showed him crying out in pain and pleading for help while hospital employees appeared to look on without intervening.
The video quickly gained attention, with viewers questioning how the situation was handled and whether proper care was provided.
The above video was posted to the TikTok account @jonesbrenon4, belonging to a man named Jones Brenon. This particular account is inactive, with the only other post dating back to 2024, featuring a scenic view in Atlanta. In this particular video, Jones was at Northside Hospital in Cherokee County, Georgia, screaming in pain as hospital staff and employees continued their regular work.
According to the video’s caption, Jones checked in at 6:05 am on the morning he began feeling pain on his left side. He reported that he spent an hour and a half repeatedly begging for help until a doctor eventually came to his side. However, the doctor had reportedly “told me to stop yelling. Once again, I begged her for help and explained how intense and unbearable my pain was. She responded by saying that there were patients who had already been waiting for over three hours and that I would have to wait as well, adding that those patients had been waiting quietly.”
Commenters in the medical field replied with utter shock, with one person even saying, “As Er nurse this is unacceptable someone should of at least come and talk this patient regardless,” and another saying, “As a nurse….. I’m embarrassed and there are no words.” Judging by his screams, that’s exactly what should have happened.
Georgia Patient Switches Hospitals After First One Allegedly Refuses to Help for Kidney Stones
After being denied for so long, Jones decided to leave and head over to Kennestone Hospital, where he was allegedly given a room and medication within thirty minutes of arrival. With how much he was yelling at the other hospital, I’m glad he was taken care of as swiftly as he was.
There were other commenters who weren’t as sympathetic to the situation, stating the kidney stones is not a reason to request a room when other people might potentially have graver issues. One person even said, “ER Nurse here. Pain doesn’t kill anyone. If they are full, they are full. If they said they were full that’s your decision to find a less crowded place. Kidney stones are not priority.”
At the end of the day, Jones was able to be seen and get the treatment he deserved, which is a lot less than what he appears to have endured while at Northside Hospital. Everything here shouldn’t have happened in the first place.
