Many people, but especially children, are eagerly awaiting their Christmas gifts. However, one child received a mysterious Christmas gift and will have to wait longer to use it. The reason is that a grandmother in Texas sent her 4-year-old grandson a package of small magnets for Christmas via Amazon. This was definitely a Christmas gift that neither he nor the elves at the North Pole can explain.
Redditor Prior_Lobster_5240 went viral after sharing the unexpected gift that left everyone speechless. Many would expect a child to receive a car, building blocks, or any other non-lethal object. Yet, this grandmother from Texas sent a Christmas gift via Amazon with her grandson’s name on it, minus a kit of small magnets. According to OP, their MIL had the best of intentions, but it seems she forgot one small detail: to verify that the gift was appropriate for a 4-year-old.
Most Redditors were concerned about the toddler’s health. Fortunately, OP intercepted the gifts before they got anywhere near their son. Even so, the comments repeatedly pointed out how dangerous these magnets are, not because the baby could swallow them, but because they could perforate his insides due to the force of the magnets.
“Has she taken out a life insurance policy on him, by any chance?” said Quirky-Invite7664
“Oh no. In her defence, the shop might have run out of rat poison and firelighters,” commented Mauchit_Ron.
“Swallow two at the same time, not a big problem. Swallow two a few hours apart, big problem. Like surgery amounts of problem“, added RedPum4.
Many commenters believed it could have been a misunderstanding, but OP said her grandmother also sent her other daughter’s gifts directly to her. OP also included a comment saying that they do not blame her MIL, as she does not seem to be “a mean person, she’s just very airheaded.” Others commented that, due to the rush of the Christmas holidays, there may have been a mistake. However, OP commented again, saying that this grandmother is quite absent-minded and that it has nothing to do with her age, as it seems that OP’s husband barely survived growing up with his clueless mother. And that practically the husband had to raise himself from a very young age.
It seems that this child’s parents must check and approve the grandmother’s gifts to her grandchildren before she makes her purchases in the following years. This is to avoid future problems and help this Texas grandmother.
