If you’ve ever flown on a plane, you know there are strict policies that are enforced for the safety of others. Airlines do allow animals, though it varies, but those fury passengers also have special rules. It isn’t just about seating; size and destination factor in, too. More importantly, you should be checking your animals in before you board. Otherwise, you’ll end up like this ‘Karen,’ who was trying to travel home to Oregon for Christmas.
TikToker Ibeensaiddat shared a video of the Karen in the wild. She had immediately responded with anger when an airline employee refused to board her with her cats. Two cats, to be specific, and both were contained in one large carrier. According to the woman, she was told the large carrier was fine for both cats when she booked the flight. However, the employee told her it’s actually “one cat” permitted for a carrier like that.
Unleashing her rage, the Karen told the poor employee—who is handling her with extreme patient—they were preventing her from “going home for Christmas,” and accused the airline of not verifying. She then claimed the website gave her conflicting information, and that the airline itself is just giving her “inaccurate information.”
“Why would I book the flight with two cats?” the Karen asked, if she wasn’t allowed to do that in the first place. And they aren’t preventing her from boarding, either. In fact, the employee offers her a solution: in this case, she’d have to pay extra to have the cats fly in separate carriers. Otherwise, she isn’t getting on the plane.
They explain that cats need to have a full range of motion to sit with her, hence the extra carrier. It would make more sense if she had two “baby cats,” but since they’re full-sized adult cats, it’s a no-go. Unless the woman pays extra, she isn’t getting on the plane. Unfortunately, no matter how they explain, she just doesn’t get it.
During the argument—mostly from the Karen getting loud—she lets it slip that her mother was the one who booked the flight.
One commenter tried to point out that “Pet sitters are a thing,” and plenty who work over the holidays. Perhaps the whole situation could’ve been avoided if she considered that.
“It is YOUR responsibility. RESEARCH your flight bookings for passenger pets. Airlines cannot outline EVERY scenario in policy. BE ACCOUNTABLE!!!” argued another. So, in reality, she’s taking her anger out on regular people when it’s her mom that’s the source of the problem. I’d expect that much from a Karen.
