Christmas brings many holiday-themed attractions that usually draw a lot of people looking for some fun during the season. Some of these attractions have even been around for decades, so no one would expect an incident to happen. Unfortunately, a situation occurred for the first time at Kingsgate Mall in Lubbock, Texas. One person recorded the legendary horse-drawn carriage crashing into several vehicles in the parking lot. The silver lining of this is that no one was hurt, but it was still a scary thing to witness.
One Reddit user shared the footage which can be viewed here of the horse-drawn carriage crashing inside the parking lot at Kingsgate Mall in Lubbock. You can see the carriage collide with one car, causing the rider to fall to the ground. At this moment, the horses start running as they get separated from the carriage. You can also see how the carriage hit at least three vehicles in the parking lot, causing damage to them.
The one recording stopped the video as soon as one of the horses approached them. Fortunately, some people commented on the Reddit post saying that there were no injuries, which is quite fortunate. Besides the vehicle damage, everyone around was safe. According to Everything Lubbock, the Kingsgate Mall staff mentioned that this was the first time an incident such as this happened, and that the situation didn’t escalate further thanks to the quick response from carriage drivers and other people who were at the scene.
The truth is that the outcome was far better than expected, as things could have quickly turned for the worse. Still, the damage is done, especially to those poor parked vehicles, and some Redditors pointed out how this has to be one of the most unexpected accidents during Christmas.
“Insurance is going to love that,” said one user.
“The chances of getting in a carriage horse vs car accident are low but never zero,” commented another person.
At the time of writing, it is uncertain what caused the incident. Some speculate that a vehicle or something else might have spooked the horses. Whatever the case, we should all be thankful that everyone left the scene unscathed and that, hopefully, they all enjoyed a lovely Christmas. Also, while the carriage collided with the vehicles, the damage to the vehicles doesn’t seem too bad, so there’s another silver lining.
