What used to be a niche Star Wars racing game rerelease is suddenly commanding triple-digit prices. And no, it’s not because people are rediscovering podracing nostalgia thanks to Galactic Racer‘s announcement. Instead, demand for copies of Star Wars: Racer Revenge skyrocketed due to the PS5 hacking scene and a jailbreak exploit.
According to ongoing discussions within the hacking community, a bug has been found in the 2019 PS4 port of Star Wars: Racer Revenge. This allows for mast1c0re code injection that can be used to execute a PS5 jailbreak, opening the console for hacking and homebrew programs.
Reseller tracking site ResellCalendar previously reported the game at around $70 for standard editions and roughly $120 for collector’s copies on eBay. As of writing, those prices have jumped dramatically just hours later, with listings now ranging from $250 to $400. In other words, prices jumped anywhere from double to nearly five times their original value within hours.
The sudden price spike isn’t too surprising — once you look at the supply. Star Wars: Racer Revenge rerelease was only distributed physically in limited quantities by Limited Run Games. It’s estimated that just 8,500 standard copies were produced, with another 1,000 units for the collector’s edition.

What’s interesting is that this PS5 jailbreak exploit itself isn’t exactly brand new. Back in 2023, an X user known as @DesignerLeake documented a save data vulnerability in Racer Revenge. While they ultimately shelved the project, their findings were made public, leaving the door open for others to revisit the bug later.
Fast forward to now, and @gezine_dev has confirmed that the vulnerability has been adapted into a working jailbreak method tied to PS5 firmware 12.00 exploit. They have indicated that the code will be released publicly once further polishing is complete. “Good luck hunting it. Don’t be an idiot buying PS2 version lol,” cautioned @gezine_dev.
While it might sound bizarre, this kind of thing isn’t new; legit retail games have played a major role in console jailbreaks before. From Cubic Ninja on the Nintendo 3DS to GTA: Liberty City Stories on the PSP and Splinter Cell on the original Xbox.
For now, Star Wars: Racer Revenge has gone from obscure rerelease to one of the most sought-after PS4 discs almost overnight. At least until hackers find a simpler workaround that makes this method irrelevant all over again.
