We have just started 2026, but Warner Bros Games has already laid off staff at its San Francisco studio, with multiple affected employees confirming the cuts, GameDeveloper reports. The studio is part of WB Games’ Digital Publishing division and has worked on various mobile and free-to-play titles, including DC Worlds Collide and DC Legends. It also provided live operation support for MultiVersus.

Several senior employees shared the news that their roles were eliminated on LinkedIn. One even noted that his entire team got cut. “Hey everyone, at the end of the month my team and position will be eliminated here at WB and I will be back in the market for a job!” wrote Director of Design Tony Perkins.

Live operations producer Kevin Chen also confirmed his exit earlier this week. “My 2025 closed out with an unfortunate elimination of my role at Warner Bros. Games. My time at WB was invaluable, and I have learned so much from the experiences and connections I’ve made while working on DC Worlds Collide and MultiVersus.”

The San Francisco layoffs add to what have been brutal years for Warner Bros Games. The company reportedly lost around $300 million in 2024 following the failures of several live service projects.

That includes Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League and Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions — not counting MultiVersus, which was shut down in May 2025. Even a Wonder Woman game, planned to be one of its last big projects, has reportedly been shuttered along with three in-house studios. Leadership changes also hit the division, with longtime games chief David Haddad resigning in January 2025 after roughly 12 years at the company.

The news comes as Netflix moves ahead with plans to acquire Warner Bros Discovery in a deal valued at $82.7 billion. A spokesperson also confirmed that the deal includes Warner Bros Games. Nevertheless, at the time of writing, the gaming division has yet to issue an official statement.
