Men are out here repeatedly giving women reasons to put their guard up in every setting. Unfortunately, women are not exempt from the harassment even in a healthcare setting. A nurse working in Florida reveals a disturbing moment she experienced with a try-hard man who just wanted to hit on her. The awkward interaction shows how things could’ve easily taken a dangerous turn. It also goes to show that, sometimes, creepy men will stop at nothing to have their way.
Rachael (@allthingsrachael) posted a TikTok video warning women, “It’s doesn’t matter where you are. As a woman, don’t you ever think for one second to let your guard down.” Rachael is a nurse at a Florida healthcare center. She said that a patient’s family member approached her and said the patient’s room was out of paper towels. She went into the bathroom to check but saw there were paper towels. The man followed Rachael into the bathroom and stood behind her, blocking the door. This is when things started to feel incredibly dangerous and disturbing.
The man told Rachael, “I don’t know how that happened” when it was obvious he lied to her just so he could corner her. He then asked her for her name and called her “pretty.” At this point in the story, Rachael shows that she’s shaking from head to toe as she retells the story, knowing how bad this could’ve turned out for her.
Rachael was so freaked out by the interaction that she used all the power in her voice to proclaim, “Sir, step aside. Move out of my way.” She said, as she did this, her heart was racing. She used this as a way to explain to women that they need to constantly be on guard. It’s so disheartening that we have to teach other women this useful tool. However, it may be what saves their lives. In a world of men with bad intentions toward women, you always have to stay on guard.
One commenter stated, “Oh he’s done this before!!” It’s clear that he was calm, cool, and confident about the way that he approached her. These are the actions of a true predator. Another female commenter pointed out, “This is an exhausting life.” The fact that women have to stay on guard and be paranoid just to protect themselves is truly exhausting. It’s better to be take precautions and be safe than end up in a bad scenario caused by someone with horrendous intentions.
