Clever Minnesota Protesters Use Water Against ICE in ‘Brilliant Battle Strategy’ for Winter Immigration Raids

Historically, fascists have always underestimated winter

It’s no secret by now that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents and other federal officers are ill-equipped for their winter immigration raids. Minnesotans have caught on rather quickly, especially after numerous videos of ICE agents slipping and falling during the raids. Hence, the anti-ICE protesters have hatched a new strategy: water, which they then pour on the roads to create black ice, which will protect them against ICE.

The strategy has supposedly become so widespread that certain critics on X are calling it an alarming use of water so that ICE agents “slip and fall” no matter how physically fit or qualified they are due to their training. In one of the videos for the execution of this strategy, the protesters can be seen using their cars to spill water on roads outside of ICE headquarters in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

So far, however, it’s not clear whether this particular black ice method in the video above caused any accidents for the ICE agents. Still, some critics are calling it a crime as apparently, “Setting a man trap is a felony in most states.” Such opinions were then challenged or even mocked, with another replying, “It’s just water they were just washing the sidewalk so the ICE can walk on a clean surface.”

The use of this strategy against ICE was likely made more popular after comedian and talk show host Jimmy Kimmel featured a montage of ICE agents slipping and falling on black ice, and even federal vehicles failing to escape snow-covered parking lots. For some reason, and despite their huge budget allocations, the federal agents were ill-prepared for the Minnesota winter.

People online are calling it poetic

Another TikToker named Not Chels, aka no_nichelsea, also posted a viral video of the black ice situation, with a rather sarcastic, “Oh no, it froze overnight, everything so icy what a shame our streets aren’t salted, oh no.” The TikTok user might have a point, as certain services could easily salt the roads and ensure winter safety if only the streets were safer and there were no federal agents who are responsible for “The disappearing, beating, and murdering of people, I’m gonna guess.”

Commenters have since praised the rather clever strategy that Minnesota anti-ICE protesters have come up with, “Are u guys intentionally freezing the streets? that actually sounds like a brilliant battle strategy.” Some have found the seasonal situation rather artistic, especially for the multiple opportunities it provided, “Ice protecting you from ICE is poetic.” Needless to say, there might soon be even more videos of ICE agents slipping and falling on black ice all over Minneapolis and perhaps other states in Minnesota.
