Months after her husband was detained and taken into ICE custody, a woman in New Ulm, Minnesota, claims that the law enforcement agency “can’t find” him. The story was posted on TikTok by Hannah Silveira, who is married to Matheus Silveira, a 30-year-old Brazilian man. Back in November 2024, he was reportedly taken into custody by ICE during a green card interview, as he had overstayed his visa, she previously revealed.
After months of fighting for her husband, the couple eventually agreed to a departure agreement for Matheus, avoiding deportation, Newsweek reported. The Minnesota woman chose to go to Brazil to be with her husband of two years, who, as part of the deal, was barred from reentering the United States for 10 years.
In her clip, Hannah detailed that Matheus didn’t show up in an app she used to communicate with him. He was “no longer in the system,” she added, so she contacted the authorities to seek an explanation. The explanation shocked her to the core.
“We don’t know where he is,” a person at the Otay Mesa Detention Center told her, according to Hannah. The woman explained that he was “probably in the process of being discharged.”
Deportation Flight
Hannah, having waited months for her husband’s discharge, began to worry. While her husband took the departure agreement, they have yet to book a flight to Brazil in coordination with the authorities.
Then, she revealed that she talked to one of Matheus’ friends at the detention center, who told her that he had been taken “in the middle of the night” to Louisiana. Despite the judge’s order, ICE is choosing to take him to a deportation flight, Hannah alleged.
The Minnesota woman blasted the detention center and ICE for feigning ignorance regarding her husband’s whereabouts.
“I don’t know if he’s on a plane. I don’t know if he’s on a bus,” Hannah continued. She added that she wasn’t sure when she would be able to talk to Matheus.
Hannah, who has a large platform on TikTok, thought about other families going through the same thing. Many suffer with their family members being relocated across the country for deportation. She concluded her clip by saying that she was “sick and [expletive] of this administration” mistreating people around.
The Minnesota woman’s video went viral, but according to her, it is not being shown. Furthermore, she claimed that TikTok was glitching, adding that she had to upload the video three times.
