Some fervent pushback met democratic congressman Tom Suozzi’s recent speaking engagement at the Temple Beth Sholom synagogue in Roslyn, New York. Suozzi recently voted in support of a bill to expand DHS funding, and constituents are not happy. A group of activists confronted him on the matter, and they had some interesting gifts with them.
Their Gifts for Suozzi
The first activist stands in the pews, addressing Suozzi directly, holding up a large gray diaper.
‘Suozzi, I know you voted to increase ICE funding, so I wanted to get something for you. This is an adult diaper, for when you pee yourself in front of Donald Trump. You’re the type of leader we need right now, someone that soils themselves when the fascists are at our door.’
A second activist follows up.
‘I didnt know we were doing gifts, I actually also have some gifts. I have some kneepads for you, you can use these while you [expletive] Donald Trump.’
A third activist then stands, with a mic this time, addressing the congregation.
‘As a Jewish man, I have never felt safer than when there is a masked gestapo in the street.’
Some people clap in the background. What appears to be members of the congregation start to grab and push the activists towards the exit. One activist yells out to Suozzi in the process.
Tell Renee Good you made a mistake. Tell Alex Pretti you made a mistake in expanding funding of ICE after Renee Good had already been shot in the streets.’
As they are dragged out, one activist attempts to call out. They are trying to read off names of people killed by ICE in the last month, but they are cut short.
‘Nine people were killed by ICE this month, and you’re throwing me out while I’m reading their names? How [expletive] dare you!’
Commenters’ Reactions
Commenters reacted to the video in an overwhelmingly positive way. One commenter stated: “They should probably give him some privacy so he can put on that diaper, his face says he’s about to need it.” Another commenter said: “I hope he has not a moment of peace. All of these trash politicians who voted to secure those funds for ICE need to face accountability for the atrocities they’re committing.” Some commenters also felt it important to note Suozzi’s AIPAC funding, with one tying it to his support of DHS: “Oh, look, an AIPAC-funded rep who doesn’t care about jackboots murdering innocent people. What. A. Shock.”
