That’s so heartwarming

The power of family is sometimes a bit too difficult to put into words. Families all work in different ways, and the reality is that none of them is perfect. One California grandmother realized this just after getting in contact with her grandson about the daughter she left 63 years before.

What’s really heartwarming about their reunion is that the two look to be in poor health, meaning that they were able to meet one another before the inevitable. And it’s all thanks to one insistent cousin who suggested doing the DNA test in the first place, reuniting the family over six decades later.

The above video was posted to the TikTok account @chismeandtreats_podcast, which is home to the Chisme and Treats Podcast. While most of the videos posted here are of the podcast, this one focuses on a more personal subject. One of the podcast hosts films as her elderly grandmother discovers that the daughter she gave up for adoption is still alive, 63 years later.

According to the caption, her grandson had decided to do a DNA test after being persuaded by a cousin. In a different video, we see the podcast host’s mother telling her own mother that the daughter she had 63 years ago was alive. You can physically see the tears well up in everyone’s eyes as she realizes what was being said to her.

Above, we see their reunion and, again, there is not a dry eye in sight. The 63-year-old woman appeared to be cared for at a specialized hospital for some kind of illness, with her entire family, including the son who contacted the grandmother, there to witness the two see each other for the first time.

California Family Reunites After 63 Years Apart

I wouldn’t be surprised if anyone watching the video also got through it without crying, especially with comments like, “I’m so sad that they didn’t get to meet while they were healthy. But I can only imagine how relieved she is to know that her son has more family surrounding and loving him now. What a huge gift to receive as a mama.”

Others applauded the son’s behavior in reaching out at all, saying, ““Here you go mom. Here’s your family” That man did everything he could to give this to his momma💜” Hopefully, they’re able to spend much more time with one another in the future, now that there is so much more family to get to know.
