Accusing an innocent shopper of stealing can quickly turn an ordinary trip to the store into an uncomfortable and awkward ordeal for everyone involved. That’s exactly what happened recently at an Aldi store in Georgia, where a manager wrongly accused a customer of stealing items. The incident was recorded by the victim, and the footage is circulating online at the moment.

Reportedly, the incident occurred at the Aldi store on Riverdale road, near Atlanta, and sees the manager confronting the shopper and asking the man to follow him, while he’s accompanied by a security guard. “Let’s go,” instructs the manager, though the shopper insists, “I’ll empty everything out of my pockets and everything. I ain’t took [expletive].” The man is escorted into what appears to be a cleaning closet, away from the other customers in the store.

The Aldi staff appear to be interested in what’s in the man’s bag, which he is carrying. “Yeah, my personal bag. There’s nothing in this bag that belongs to y’all.” exclaims the man, who is clearly distressed by the accusation and interaction. The manager then gets frustrated and begins losing his temper, and states, “Bro. Take your [expletive] out ’cause you’re wasting my peoples’ time and my time. You got that [expletive] bag. Take my [expletive] out. I’m not a [racial slur] to play with. You’re wasting my [expletive] time. Get the [expletive] out of there.”

However, the man insists, “I don’t have nothing in it.” The camera then goes black as staff can be heard opening the bag and rifling through the man’s belongings. “This bag is empty. Feel it. Grab it. Empty. Empty. Do I get an apology? I don’t have anything. I don’t have [expletive]. I’m gonna sue. I’m gonna sue. I appreciate this. This is gonna make my day.”

It suddenly becomes clear that the man was telling the truth, and he does indeed not have any stolen items in his bag. “I’m not a [expletive] thief. Nothing. Where the owner at?” yells the innocent man, angrily.

As the video continues to gain traction online, viewers have flooded the comments to defend the innocent shopper. On TikTok, one user declared, “File a police report and sue the mess out of them” while another added, “ain’t nothing in that store worth that man acting like that over…” Elsewhere, on Instagram, one netizen wrote, “held hostage, falsely accused, permanently traumatized, and publicly humiliated….. I SMELL A PAY CHECK COMING.” A fourth added, “Lawsuit incoming in 3,2,1“.

Aldi has yet to release any statement about the incident.
