A man in Lafayette, Louisiana, is accused of faking a disability to make caregivers change his diaper. Shockingly, this is not the first time this individual has attempted something of this nature, and is now facing human trafficking charges.

The case was shared on TikTok by Robbie Harvey, who talked about the details surrounding Rutledge Deas IV, a 35-year-old man in Louisiana. According to the Louisiana State Police (LSP), Deas posed as someone looking for a nanny for a “person with special needs” in January 2026.

Eventually, the man managed to contact a caregiver through an online platform used to connect families with nannies. He allegedly directed the victim to his Lafayette house, where he presented himself as the person with special needs.

The deception took a disgusting turn, as Deas is accused of asking the victim to “perform tasks consistent with infant and toddler care.” One of those tasks was to change his diaper, the LSP said.

After authorities were contacted, Deas was arrested and charged with one count of human trafficking. This, shockingly, is not the first time he has been involved in situations as disturbing as the one described above.

Troubling Crime History

As reported by WAFB, Dean was arrested in New Orleans back in 2019. He portrayed himself as “Cory,” a non-existent handicapped brother of his, in an attempt to fool caregivers. As a result, he was charged with 10 counts of sexual battery, 10 counts of human trafficking, and one count of possession of a controlled substance.

Two years later, in 2021, Deas was arrested in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana, after he sent an extremely inappropriate text message to a victim. He offered to pay them to change his diaper in what he described as a sort of “alternative therapy.”

As a result, Deas pleaded guilty to the 2019 charges and was placed on probation in December 2020. According to KATC, he pleaded guilty to human trafficking in 2022 and was sentenced to 10 years in prison. Nine of those years were suspended, however, and upon release, he was placed on a 5-year probation.

Given the leniency of his sentences and the disturbing nature of his crimes, users reacted accordingly.

“Weirdos are out there,” one user commented. Another one said, “Why do these people get such small sentences? Stay in there!” A third one added, “This is not uncommon. We just don’t hear about it a lot. This is not ok.”

Deas is currently being held at the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center.
