Robberies happen almost daily, but there are a few situations that raise our eyebrows a bit more due to what thieves steal. One of the recent shocking robberies occurred at a Macy’s in California, where a group of thieves entered the store and stole around $10,000 worth of perfume. While it isn’t the most organized robbery, many citizens have dubbed it the “perfume heist” mainly because of the amount of product they stole. The silver lining, however, is that officers should have an easy time locating the robbers—they just need to follow the small (excuse the pun).
The Macy’s perfume heist, as everyone is calling it now, happened not long ago at one of the aforementioned stores inside a mall in California. Yet, instead of a heist, it looks more like a poorly-organized robbery, as you can see the thieves running around like headless chickens, dropping boxes, and bumping against others as they try to flee the scene.
Apparently, they stole around $10,000 worth of perfume, which is a large sum if you think about it. Still, some people believe the actual value might be lower; if they ever try to resell these perfumes, they won’t even reach $10k. Nevertheless, it was a big hit to the store, and something that should not have happened in the first place.
Other Redditors believe that if the thieves stole the boxes that are usually on display, most of them would be empty, meaning the robbers might have taken home a couple of worthless containers, which would be ironic.
In any case, Macy’s released a statement saying that its priority is maintaining a secure shopping environment for everyone.
As usual, people felt angry as they saw the chaos unfold, and many shamed the thieves.
“Yeah, human decency seems to have left the building,” commented one user.
“Fall of society right there. People have no decency and morals anymore,” said another Redditor. “Police have got their scent,” said another.
It seems the authorities are already investigating this crime, so we might learn the outcome soon, assuming they manage to find the culprits and the stolen product. Ultimately, this might be a wake-up call for many other retail stores to lock up more of their products, especially if they want to prevent becoming victims of these “heists.”
