When it comes to the slightly quirky, weird, or straight-up bizarre things people do, typically, it’s for a reason. Now, whether or not that reason makes sense or is socially acceptable is debatable. That said, one Tampa resident in Florida is completely stumped as to why one old man living in the area puts up a bunch of standing posters in his yard. These aren’t just random pictures either, but specifically photos of different children, which he changes every week.

Posting pictures of the old man’s yard on r/Weird, the local Floridian showed how, this week, he set up photos of what appears to be young men and a boy, along with a family in strange clown makeup. “Two weeks before these pictures there were large printed photos of young African American girls in the place of what we see here…” the poster explains. It’s anyone’s guess at this point as to why this Florida man is doing this, but some people on Reddit believe they have an idea.

“It’s like boomer Facebook IRL,” says one commenter. “This could be something positive, but it gives off all the wrong vibes,” remarks another. One person claiming to be his neighbor thinks the old man is just bananas. “[He] Wears his N95 outside rain or shine…has crazy drawings all over his front door. I think photos are of his son who passed away,” they explain.

On the other hand, some people feel as though the old Florida man is trying to express something. “This feels sad. This guy’s going through something,” assumes one Redditor. Others chime in, believing the photos of the boys to perhaps be family members who don’t visit him anymore due to political differences. “I’m guessing their family cut them off, it happens frequently for right wingers,” says one person.

In conclusion, it’s hard to know exactly why the elderly Floridian puts up giant photos of children in his yard, swapping them out week by week. As one person points out, he might be a veteran or overly patriotic amid what’s going on in the country. But one thing is certain: “He is communicating, unconventionally.”
