While plenty of active duty and former service members will humbly be grateful for a simple “Thank you for your service,” there are a special few who don’t believe they’ve been thanked enough. Some are so entitled, in fact, that they believe they are somehow superior and demand respect. It’s certainly not a good look for others in the military, yet one veteran in Texas felt the strong urge to shove his ex-Marine, corporate, and even marriage status down the throat of someone over a Facebook Marketplace offer. On top of that, he even went as far as to directly threaten the person’s safety.

“Feels like I definitely dodged something big here…” the user remarked nervously, posting what happened on both r/mildlyinfuriating and r/insanepeoplefacebook. “This guy on fb marketplace absolutely went off on me for not giving him my number. Do people usually share their number like nothing??”

How would you respond to this guy?

For context, the two were scheduling a pickup, likely over an item being sold or a simple giveaway of something unwanted. Everything seemed fine until the former Texas Marine was denied the person’s phone number, causing him to crash out on an extreme level. “I could’ve pulled it up already if I wanted to,” growled the bully, implying that he had some sort of authority or ability to find and doxx the other user.

The ex-Marine continues his tirade, harping on how he’s a high and mighty “Executive Recruiter” who’s a veteran married to a “happy wife.” He ends the conversation claiming that he’s not a “serial killer,” which is both random and unsettling. The harassed user asked Reddit what they would do in this situation, to which many replied, “You don’t respond.”

Others added that blocking the veteran, too, would be a good idea. “When people showcase their projections like this, because that is what this is, it’s insight to his mind… It’s like he’s waving a fuse in front of you asking you to light it,” explains one commenter. “Threatening what you ‘could’ do but haven’t because you’re a nice person, is super creepy,” agreed another.

Amid all the comments remarking on how crazy the entitled man is for going wild over being denied a phone number, it’s unfortunate that he’s continuing a bad stereotype for actually respectable veterans and service members who are just trying to get on with life.
