If a speech ever captured the emotions that many people are feeling amid the activities of the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement, it would be this one by a man in North Carolina. The man spoke against reopening an ICE detention centre, explaining the havoc it had caused in the past.
A patriotic man was seen walking up to the podium in a room full of people at the Hertford County Commissioners meeting in Winton in a TikTok video.
He began by listing the many atrocities of ICE, explaining that “Operation Creed” had arrested some ICE agents who allegedly were involved in soliciting minors for sex. The man shared that one of the agents was supposed to conduct background checks on individuals who would serve as ICE agents, but never actually did. The citizen then explained that ICE agents had only 47 days of training, “which is in honor of the 47th president.” He noted that this was nothing compared to what it took for him to serve in the Air Force as a veteran.
“The job requirements, explicitly, of ICE agents are to be a member or supporter of White Supremacy,” he stated. The man could barely hold back his tears as he called out the “atrocities” that ICE has meted out across the country. “It’s not Federal Supremacy, it’s White Supremacy,” he concluded, as the hall erupted in cheers of agreement.
The level of support on-site was equal to that online as soon as the video dropped. “Love this man for caring for the least of these,” another said. “It gives me comfort that there are people like him. Thank you, sir,” one netizen wrote. “Thank you for speaking up and speaking out! You are appreciated!” a second user said. “This man articulated every single word that I’m feeling right now!” someone else confessed.
The praises kept coming in. “You are truly a hero without a cape. May God bless you always with guidance and protection,” a netizen wrote. “Truly a man with integrity, passion, strength, and love! God will remember he spoke out for the least of these,” another echoed. “I want to hug this man! Thank you, brother, for speaking up for our most vulnerable!!! Thank you for your humanity!” a user confessed.
Some users were surprised at the lack of training the North Carolina agents had. “I had to have 8 months of training to be a massage therapist, and they have 47 days,” one TikToker pointed out, and another added, “I have 17 weeks as a police recruit, and I didn’t run in enough time to call for back up in enough time, and it kicked me out. This is ridiculous.”
