I’ve definitely had my fair share of strange experiences with customer service lines or big companies. However, I can’t say that I’ve had any of them treat me terribly because I wanted to cancel my service with them. A California woman was shocked to discover she had to deal with one of the worst customer service representatives ever while trying to cancel her Spectrum Wi-Fi.
What’s really odd isn’t even that the representative gave her a hard time about canceling the service, but that she was so incredibly mean and rude about it. Even as someone who once worked in customer service for nearly a decade, I’ve never heard a customer be treated this way before.
The video in question was posted to the TikTok account @anissahm15, which looks to be run by a woman named Anissah. It appears as though she was recording her phone conversation with her laptop camera since her phone was indisposed at the time. According to the text written across the video, “POV: YOU CALL TO CANCEL US SPECTRUM WIFI AND THE LADY GOES CRAZY ON U 😩😩.”
Sure enough, as you watch, Anissah calmly asks to have her Wi-Fi service canceled, and the woman on the other end of the line becomes verbally aggressive. It appears that Anissah explained why she wanted to cancel the service, but the company representative just couldn’t wrap her head around it. There is even a point where the representative asks, “What-what are you complaining about? I-I don’t understand.”
This obviously shocked Anissah, who immediately responded with, “You know what, I don’t understand why you are yelling or being rude about this.” Unfortunately, she couldn’t get everything she wanted to say out because the woman she was on the phone with immediately began arguing with her once more. As the video progresses, there is even a point where the representative quite literally says, “-You guys just don’t appreciate anything anymore. I mean, I don’t understand what you’re-what’s going on. Make it make sense, please.”
California Woman Tries to Cancel Wi-Fi and is Yelled at by Representative
Commenters were quick to condemn the representative for her behavior, with one person even commenting on how the state of the Spectrum must be for their associates to speak that way, saying, “that company is struuuuuggling.” Another person commented to tell Anissah that she might be able to take legal action, saying, “If I’m not mistaken you can sue over this. Spectrum is legally obligated to cancel your service upon request.”
Things don’t get any better by the end of the call, when Anissah asks to speak to the woman’s supervisor, who, quite literally, says, “Well, you’re not going to.” To add additional fuel to the fire, the representative hung up on Anissah when the latter asked one last time to be transferred to a supervisor.
I can only imagine what must have been going through her head as a customer, and I hope the Spectrum representative is properly reprimanded for her actions.
