The general aesthetic of scrubs is synonymous with hospitals, so you aren’t alone in thinking they’ve helped save lives. And many specialize or help administer vaccines and so on. Even an abortion clinician is a type of nurse. So, when one abortion clinician in Texas had a funny encounter with a stranger, he had a funny realization. And when he shared his realization on TikTok, the internet gave him an “attaboy!” and thanked him for his work!

Seated in his car with a food order from Cava, TikToker Isaac (TikTok/noo_chill_) shares an interaction he had at the restaurant, which is now morbidly funny in hindsight. “The cashier at the front was like, ‘Have a good day. Thank you for saving lives,’ cause I’m wearing my scrubs,” Isaac says. It’s clear as day, a pair of scrubs. They’re just not the traditional blue, but black.

Isaac starts giggling, admitting that it got him thinking, “Sir, if only you knew I worked at the abortion clinic.” He laughs once again before the TikTok video ends. It’s not that Isaac thinks the fetus is a child, but he is laughing at the realization that some people are still weird about women’s right to an abortion in the first place. Roe v. Wade, after all, has been overturned.

Some people just wouldn’t be able to handle that kind of information without getting aggressive. There’s a solid chance Isaac would’ve heard some pushback rooted in right-wing politics. Given the response to Isaac’s humor in the comment section, most of which were women, it’s clear he actually is providing an important service.

One commenter didn’t even bother to start with ‘but’ and instead just full stop stated: “Saving women’s lives, I love it,” along with an image of Tim Curry smiling.

Another commenter, a woman, shared that she wouldn’t be alive if it weren’t for an abortion she had. “I had cancer and couldn’t be treated while pregnant,” she said. Several other women in the comments shared the same story.

“So many women in history have died because of unsafe or home attempted abortions,” one woman said.

Comments like these go on and on, so the sentiment is certainly shared that it really doesn’t matter why it’s done. If it’s done, for whatever reason, is it done with utmost care? And the reason is none of your concern. The general consensus is that it clearly helps women more than it harms.
