When kids do something amazing in school way ahead of schedule, people can’t help but notice. It’s the kind of thing that gets everyone talking; some are impressed, others start asking questions, but nobody is bored. Most 10-year-olds are just figuring out their multiplication tables or lining up for recess, but there are a few who blast right past what’s “normal.” Right now in Southern California, there’s a story that’s turning heads.

A 10-year-old 4th grader from Southern California is making history after enrolling in college. Honey Cooper is now dual-enrolled and already standing out at San Bernardino Valley College.

Honey Cooper, a fourth grader from San Bernardino, Southern California, is making history. According to KABC, at just 10 years old, she is juggling her regular classes at Kimbark Elementary and taking college courses at San Bernardino Valley College. The outlet says she splits her days between elementary school and college, a schedule that would be a stretch for most adults, let alone a kid. Honey is one of the youngest students in the area to pull this off, and it’s hard not to be impressed.

School officials say it’s rare to see someone like Honey enroll so early. They point to her academic skills, but also the strong support she gets at home and at school. Her principal even called it highly unusual for someone her age, and said they didn’t make the decision lightly.

Usually, dual enrollment is for high schoolers who want to get a jump on college credits, not elementary school kids. Even with all her advanced classes, Honey’s family keeps things balanced. She acts in theater, she reads for fun, and she makes plenty of time for friends and family. Her parents keep reminding everyone that social growth matters just as much as academics. They want her to keep enjoying childhood, even as she tackles these big opportunities.

Honey hopes her story gives other young students the confidence to push themselves and dream a little bigger. “This can help kids, parents, and even teachers to help, so anyone can do what I’m doing right now,” she told the reporters.

People online are pretty much in awe. Most are cheering her on, and a bunch have compared her to the child prodigy, Sheldon Cooper, from The Big Bang Theory universe. Others can’t help but wonder how she manages all that advanced work when she is still so young.

Internet Reacts to 10-Year-Old California Prodigy’s College Enrollment

The young student’s achievement quickly drew admiration online, with many comparing her to a TV genius. “little sheldon cooper,” one person joked. Another added, “Kid’s out here adulting while I still burn toast. Respect.”

Several commenters were simply impressed. “Incredible! Honey Cooper is truly a young trailblazer college at 10 is next-level impressive!” one user wrote. Another said, “Wow! Honey Cooper is proving that age is just a number—Southern California’s youngest college student is already making waves. Truly inspiring for all young learners!”

Others praised the support system behind her. “Dual enrollment at that age means she’s probably breezing through high school stuff and jumping straight into real classes. Respect to her parents for supporting it without pushing too hard,” a comment read.

Still, a few questioned whether accelerating that quickly is always best. “Cool achievement, but do kids that young really need to accelerate like this? Seems like it could rob them of just being a normal kid before the pressure of adult-level work kicks in,” one person added.
