There are some people who are so paranoid that they think the whole world is out to get them. One man, going by sxt.ghxst on Instagram, encountered someone so paranoid that he was convinced the influencer was following him. It was late at night when a strange California man parked his car in front of the Instagram influencer’s vehicle. The influencer appeared to be parked on the side of the road, simply minding his own business, when he was suddenly interrupted by the stranger.
The California man then pulled out his phone and immediately took a picture of the influencer’s license plate. The influencer, understandably, also began recording on his phone and narrated to the camera, showing how the California man was blocking his car. As the California man approached him, sxt.ghxst asked whether he was drunk. The man accused the influencer of gaslighting him and insisted that he was not drunk.
Sxt.ghxst asked why he was blocking his car. The California man accused him of doing laps around him and claimed that the influencer was tracing him. The influencer responded that he did not even know the California man. The stranger admitted that he did not know the influencer either but was still convinced that he was being followed and tracked. He then declared that he would start tracking the influencer because sxt.ghxst had done it first. At that point, the influencer appeared to humor the California man and simply said okay. The California man then asked for the influencer’s name, which he refused to give, saying that he did not know him.
When internet users saw the video, many were stunned at how paranoid the situation seemed. “Someone is off his meds,” one user said. Others wondered why the California man was so certain that he was being tracked, and some users theorized that perhaps the man could be hiding something. “I suspect the guy’s doing something he’s not supposed to be doing. My first guess would be infidelity,” one Redditor wrote.
Another user wondered whether the man might actually be an ICE agent and was now afraid of being tracked because he understood how poor the public perception of ICE is at this time.
Another user remarked that this was not the first person online they had seen acting so paranoid. The user said, “I follow a woman on Instagram who regularly does this to people. All of the comments are supportive and telling the woman she is being stalked by everyone she sees. It’s so strange.”
