‘The Business Is Collapsing’: Meghan Markle Blames Netflix For Holding Her Brand Back

Who was holding back who?

It’s been quite the wild ride, but all good things must come to an end: Netflix has parted ways with Meghan Markle. Now, more than a few will argue that her partnership with the media conglomerate was anything but “good.” Yet she did get plenty of easy publicity from the whole ordeal, good and bad. What many might not have expected was her throwing shade at Netflix after their breakup, calling them out for holding her brand back from reaching its true “global” potential.

Speaking to The Sun, an insider claims that even though “Meghan is still on good terms with the Netflix team” and Ted Sarandos, she’s more than glad she’s no longer under their control. “She’s wanted to go global with the brand for some time, but has been held back by the more cautious Netflix team,” the source explains. And now that Netflix has given As Ever somewhat of a push in reaching more customers, she claims her brand is now “ready to stand on its own.”

The Duchess of Sussex has confirmed that she has cut ties with Netflix. It comes after @MattSunRoyal first reported that Meghan feared her As Ever brand of jams and other products was being held back by the streaming giant’s caution as a partner. The brand is going it alone.

As for what the general consensus says, many online commenters are claiming it was Netflix that dumped her, not the other way around, as her PR team is making it seem. As one user on X put it, “Netflix is leaving because the business is collapsing.” Critics say that she and Prince Harry are running out of money, and the alleged lack of success from her brand and the Netflix deal are forcing them to now look elsewhere for support.

While there’s no concrete evidence that this is true, the cards that have fallen into place strongly indicate something major is stirring up internally. Just last December, the Sussexes lost important PR leads and executives, making people question their leadership and the profitability of their brands. With Netflix now seemingly giving Meghan the boot from their business, people are very doubtful of where her brand will go next.

Commenters on Reddit have compared this situation with Netflix as one of Meghan’s “favorite headlines” when it comes to her being held back by something. “All of it starting with Meghan Markle cuts ties with the British Royal Family,” recalled one user. “Meghan Markle cuts ties with Tyler Perry, because he was using her,” added another. “Meghan Markle cuts ties with Harry, because she lost her ‘Hollywood’ career to be with him,” joked a third.

All this drama and fuss between Meghan and Netflix comes at a good time to break away attention from Prince Harry, who was under heavy criticism for making political commentary during his visit in Jordan. Even politicians took a swing at Harry for his remarks, but thankfully, Meghan will take the brunt of things for now.
