A Dasher in Louisiana claims DoorDash sent her on a dangerous route. However, many believe she has a role to play in the misunderstanding. The woman made a video from the highway, which was subsequently posted on X. She stated that she needed the company’s support because she followed the exact route they gave her for the delivery, which landed her on the highway. The bad part, however, was that she was using an e-bike.
She flipped the cameras to show her black bike, explaining that she could not go any further because she was scared of the traffic. The rider added that she was unsure of how she would get off the highway, saying she had complained about using an e-bike since she first joined the company. The dasher noted that compared to the traffic’s 60 to 70 miles per hour, the e-bike could only go about 25 miles per hour, making the possibility of her getting into an accident that could take her life even graver.
Video Sparks Debate Over Personal Accountability And The Company’s Part
The reactions in the comments of the clip were divided between those who blamed the navigation platform that gave her the route in the first place and others who argued that the woman should have exercised better judgment. One user stated that blaming the app was unreasonable, adding, “at some point you’ve gotta take responsibility for where you’re driving.😏” Another user wondered how the dasher got that far: “She went that far before realizing she was merging on the highway?” A netizen said that the entire thing could have been prevented:
“A couple of minutes of planning up front can save you hours of effort later, look at your route before you go.”
Another user expressed a critical point of view, claiming that people these days love to rescind responsibilities and play the victim: “People today are just straight up dumb AF. This woke mindset, to be a ‘victim’ and never be held accountable for your own actions, is beyond ridiculous.”
Others, however, supported the woman’s lamentations. One stated that the experience the dashers were having was worlds apart from what was advertised: “DoorDash really sent her on a quest instead of a delivery route, stranded on a highway is not the premium experience the app advertised.” A concerned user wrote, “Hope she’s safe and that this gets investigated properly so it doesn’t happen to anyone else.” Someone else joked, “DoorDash really out here turning deliveries into a survival challenge 😂.”
The Louisiana woman’s experience highlights the tension between technology dependency and human intuition. Hopefully, she studies the route next time and looks both ways before crossing the street.
