A DoorDash driver in Texas is being accused of tampering with a McDonald’s order and eating the contents before dropping it off to the customer.
The video was originally posted to TikTok by the woman who ordered the food, where it drew reactions about what she was supposed to have received. It also sparked a wider discussion about the cost of using a service that is meant to be convenient, like DoorDash.
The TikTok video in question features a woman who is talking directly into the camera about a situation involving a DoorDash driver and a meal she ordered in Texas. After having ordered the food, four K-Pop Demon Hunters Happy Meals, and receiving a confirmation photo of the packaging, she waited outside her home to personally receive the food from the driver.
Despite the image of the pickup showing a sealed bag, the mother received each individual item separately, which allowed her to recognize that some of them were missing. In response to this, one commenter wrote, “I know you are new to the DoorDash app, but just so you know McDonald and pretty much all the other places DOES NOT send food in their food boxes, they will always send the box inside a sealed bag.”
Food that is being delivered via a third-party delivery app, like DoorDash, tends to be sealed in a specific way to avoid tampering. Should it not have that protective seal, or if it is broken, the food shouldn’t be accepted.
According to the video, after contacting DoorDash directly and providing proof, she was asked to wait a minimum of 24 hours for a response.
Reactions to DoorDasher Tampering With Texas Woman’s Food
Within the comments, some replies take the side of the mother, with one person even writing, “report the driver. every doordash from mcdonalds is sealed in a big bag including the drinks.”
The video is gaining traction on social media because of how expensive the meal was as well as how DoorDash reportedly handled the situation. In regards to this, one reply read, “That’s crazy usually DoorDash gives you your money back automatically if it’s missing or stolen (tampered with) idk why they made you wait 24 hours.”
By the end of the video, the mother reveals that she went to the restaurant where the meals had been pickedup at and was able to confirm that the correct meals were made and delivered to the driver.
As the video continues to circulate on TikTok, the mother continues to post update videos on the situation, going live on the platform daily to share her story. It is unclear if the woman who made the delivery or DoorDash itself has made any comment.
