A woman from Miami, Florida, recently accused the local police of racial profiling during a traffic stop and then called 911 to complain about the officers. The story quickly went viral online, as social media users were divided over who was in the right. The original footage was likely recorded and uploaded by the Miami woman before being shared by accounts that compile viral videos, such as The Facts Dude.

As seen in the video, a self-described Black woman was stopped by the police while parking her car with her daughter inside. The incident began when the police issued her a ticket for having illegal window tint, and it escalated when she refused to provide her registration documents.

At one point, she decided to call 911 on the police, telling the dispatcher that she was “not feeling safe” with the officers there. The police declined to send additional officers. By the end of the video, she can be seen outside her car speaking with another officer and trying to contest the ticket she received.

Florida Citizens Divided on Woman Who Called 911

Opinions were divided on whether the Florida woman was in the right. Some people blamed the officers, saying, “Listen to how rude and arrogant they are right off the bat.” Others doubled down on the racial profiling angle, claiming that they were “mad cause you’re a Black woman driving that big boy toy.”

However, some people did not agree with the woman. Some felt that she handled the situation poorly, explaining, “They’re under no obligation to call a supervisor to the scene just because you ask for one. Tell it to the judge, not the officers during the traffic stop when they’re giving you the ticket.” Others found the situation somewhat surreal, saying, “They aren’t going to magically switch sides” just because she called 911.

In any case, some viewers offered an important tip for her and others who might face similar situations: “You don’t have to roll down your windows to help the police check your tint. Assisting an investigation is not required by law.”

Cases like this show how controversial allegations of racial profiling by the police can be. Many incidents like this happen daily, but sometimes it can be difficult to determine exactly who is in the right.
