Three years. It’s been three long and unforgettable years with the Astral Express crew, which sometimes feels hard to believe. And since this is a huge milestone for this title, HoYoverse is doing a huge celebration once Version 4.2 arrives on Honkai: Star Rail. That is right, the update, “So Laughed the Masses,” will bring the usual new characters, events, and brand-new story, but since it will coincide with the game’s third anniversary, players can expect a plethora of rewards coming their way to commemorate this interstellar journey.
Honkai: Star Rail Version 4.2 Goes Live on April 22, 2026
Today’s Special Program for Honkai: Star Rail Version 4.2 was one of the biggest we’ve had in a while, and with good reason: the third anniversary is right around the corner.
Before talking about the goodies, however, let’s go over what’s new on this major patch, starting with a new chapter for the main story as well as two familiar faces joining the playable roster.
First, we’ll get the long-awaited Silver Wolf LV.999, who goes from just a Stellaron Hunter to an Elation Emanator, following the aforementioned Path and wielding the Imaginary element. Besides packing a gamer punch, she will also be able to rescue teammates who’ve fallen victim to enemy control, whether she’s in your team or not. Silver Wolf LV.999 arrives on the first phase, along with the reruns of Dahlia, Castorice, and Firefly.
For the second phase, Evanescia joins as a Physical character, also following the Path of Elation. Besides focusing on area attacks, Evanescia will also buff other teammates, making her an excellent support, especially if you have other Elation characters. Speaking of which, the Trailblazer’s new form is coming. That’s right, our lovable raccoon will wield the Path of Elation and the Lightning element, as they deliver shocking attacks with their glowing stick. Besides damaging all enemies, our Trailblazer will also be able to “hype” other team members, making them an excellent support. Lastly, for the reruns of the second phase, we’ll get Sunday, Tribbie, and Feixiao.
The Third Anniversary Celebration Kicks Off With Version 4.2
Honkai: Star Rail will celebrate its three-year milestone when Version 4.2 goes live, and to do so, it will bring several rewards for all Trailblazers.
For starters, players will be able to claim 20 Special Passes just by logging in, and an extra 1600 Stellar Jade as part of the anniversary event, making that a total of 30 free pulls. Houhou and Robin will join the exchange catalog, meaning you can claim these two superb supports for free, too.
For those not too lucky with their pulls, they’ll now have more characters to choose from for Celestial Invitation, as Yunli, Argenti, and Silver Wolf will join the lineup. And if you want to spend on some of the store items, the double top-up rewards are getting refreshed.
Lastly, as one last piece of news for anime fans, Honkai: Star Rail has announced an animation project alongside studio MAPPA, best known for Jujutsu Kaisen and Chainsaw Man. You can watch the concept trailer here.
