Stranger Things has been one of Netflix’s biggest original content success stories: it had two critically and commercially successful seasons already, and a third season is on the way to the streaming giant. Netflix has had plenty of other solid original shows, but few have become as culturally relevant as Stranger Things.

Telltale Games is no stranger to working their interactive fiction magic on a variety of big name licenses. The Walking Dead, Minecraft, Batman, Game of Thrones, and Guardians of the Galaxy are just a few of the massive franchises that have gotten the Telltale treatment.

It seems only fitting that Telltale and Netflix would partner up for a Stranger Things adventure game, and that is exactly what’s on the way. TechRadar first broke the story, as they were told by a “confidential source” of the project. Telltale and Netflix later confirmed the project. It was originally supposed to release alongside the show’s second season, but the project was delayed.

It seems likely we will see Telltale’s Stranger Things near the release of the third season of the show to Netflix. However, we don’t have much to go on when that will be. The first season of Stranger Things released in July 2016, and the second released in October 2017. It seems unlikely we will get season three until 2019, but you never know.

Telltale released a statement to TechRadar, telling them, “We’re thrilled to confirm that Telltale is developing a game based on Stranger Things that we’ll publish to consoles and computers at a later date. Our partnership with Netflix is something we’re incredibly proud of, and while we don’t have anything more to share right now, we’re excited to reveal details on [this project] later in the year.”

We will have more details on Telltale’s Stranger Things as they become available.
