Players Shocked as Nagoshi Studio Suddenly Deletes All ‘Gang of Dragon’ Videos: ‘The Man Who Erased His Game’

It’s been a couple of rough months for Nagoshi Studio and its upcoming Gang of Dragon title, which, by the looks of it, many assume it won’t be “upcoming” at all, as several things point to this ambitious game never seeing the light of day. Today, some Redditors discovered that Nagoshi Studio had deleted its YouTube channel, alongside the trailer for Gang of Dragon, making many believe that NetEase is probably pulling the plug on the game, especially since the whole funding debacle that happened a month ago.

The post comes from Reddit user Axzercus, who noticed the Nagoshi Studio YouTube channel had been deleted, which, of course, had the official Gang of Dragon trailer. While you can still watch the reveal trailer through The Game Awards YouTube channel, it seems the studio doesn’t have any official presence on the video platform anymore.

For context as to why this might have happened, we have to look at what happened a month ago between NetEase and Nagoshi Studio. For the unaware, the latter asked NetEase for an extra $44.4 million in funding, which NetEase refused to give. Soon after that, NetEase announced it would stop funding the game.

Bloomberg also reported that Nagoshi had started looking for sponsors and that NetEase was allowing the studio to continue operating, as long as they could pay for the game’s development costs.

After that, however, it was all radio silence until we learned today that the official trailer is no longer available, along with the aforementioned YouTube channel. Still, at the time of writing, the game’s official website is still up, as well as its page on Steam. Yet, many are confused as to what may happen with Gang of Dragon, now that some of its content is getting removed from the internet.

Naturally, this shocked many gamers, especially those who’ve been following the renowned developer for a while.

“The man who erased his game,” said one Reddit user.

“Hardly surprising considering everything that’s been happening,” commented another user.

However, some other Redditors decided to blame Nagoshi, as many believe that $44.4 million is a lot to develop the game and that this amount was the straw that broke the camel’s back, leading to the game’s probable demise.

“The absolute worst part is that it’s all self-inflicted. Nagoshi and co. spent 5 years cooking and have nothing to show for it, and actually dared to want 44 more million dollars to finish the game, on top of the millions spent building the studio in the first place? Yeah, got no one to blame but yourselves for the severe mismanagement of funds,” said one Redditor.

While the situation is surprising, it remains unclear whether this is a temporary channel removal or part of a more permanent change.
