Square Enix recently announced that DLC for the much-anticipatedย Kingdom Hearts III is definitely in the works. However, players should not expect a season pass or any additional details on the DLC for the time being.
Kingdom Hearts IIIย director,ย Tetsuya Nomura, announced the DLC in an interview with the weeklyย Famitsu Magazine, and Gematsuย listed the most important tidbits. There is very little information given about the potential DLC, butย Nomura says their main focus is finishing the main story for the time being. That being said, Nomura is extremely interested in the idea of expanding the universe ofย Kingdom Hearts III.ย
That being said, the game’s director also admitted that they are worried about the game’s volume. There is so much to the newest Kingdom Hearts, they are having trouble with load times and are concerned with running out of space. In order to combat that,ย Gematsuย wrote,ย “the staff is turning some cutscenes into movies in order to reduce load times in those instances, their capacity is greater than expected.” But the delayed release date of the game has nothing to do with the team needing more time.
While they were tight-lipped about the DLC, plenty of information was given on the recently announced worlds ofย Kingdom Hearts III.ย The footage forย Pirates of the Caribbean shown during E3 takes place during the third film in the franchise, and Frozenย follows the same timeline as the film where “Let It Go” ย plays out. However, Anna and Else will not be joining your party, but Marshmallow the Abdominal Snowman will help out the team in some fashion.
In the interview, Nomura also spoke about the numerous mini-games in Kingdom Hearts III.ย Remy from Ratatouilleย is actually a part of a mini-game in Twilight Town instead of having his own world. And it looks like there is a musical mini-game inย Tangled’s world, amongst many others.
