Once again, the Horizon Festival has arrived, and like its predecessors, Forza Horizon 6 allows you to experience all of it alongside other players. The great thing about how this co-op mode works in the game is that it is miles better than that of Forza Horizon 5, bringing truly seamless gameplay, with almost no restrictions, and allowing you to play through almost all events with other drivers. So, if you want to know how co-op works in Forza Horizon 6, we’ve made a quick guide to show you all that it brings to this installment.
How To Start Co-op in Forza Horizon 6

To start your co-op playthrough, all you need to do is finish the initial sequence up to the point where the map opens up to you and use the Invite to Convoy option from the Social menu. Here, you’ll get the option to invite players you’ve seen recently in the game or those from your friends’ list. Remember that Forza Horizon 6 has cross-play and cross-platform, meaning that you can do co-op with anyone regardless of their platform.
Another important point to note is that, in terms of progress, almost all activities are available to players. You can all tackle the same events together, progress through both the Festival and Discover Japan systems, and even do Horizon Online races together, where you’ll be put on the same team depending on the event you’re doing.
Furthermore, it seems that only a couple of events have co-op or story progress restrictions. For instance, we already had two wristbands and invited another player who only had one, and they were able to join one of the key Festival events without issue. We only saw one restriction during the early events, but after that, we were able to tackle almost everything together.
Also, for those who are hunting for Treasure Cars, you can share the locations of them with other players, even if they don’t have the clue yet. You can take them there, and they will be able to collect the car for their collection, even if you already have it.
Co-Op Limitations and Restrictions

The truth is that co-op in Forza Horizon 6 has almost no limitations, to the point that even joining another person’s convoy is seamless without any transitions or loading screens. Still, there are a couple of things we noticed you can’t do while playing with others.
For starters, you can’t visit Barn Finds that you haven’t unlocked. Let’s say the host already collected all Barn Finds, but guests haven’t. They need to rank up to get the clues and then collect those vehicles.
Another minor limitation is group markers, which only the hosts can place on the map. And, in terms of events, it seems the host is the one who controls which one to start, but once the invite goes out, everyone in the convoy can join.
Overall, the co-op system in Forza Horizon 6 is one of the best not only in the genre but in gaming as a whole, and it is great to see how seamless it is, especially with an open world as huge as the one in this installment.
