Kansas Senator Says No One Helped Farmers More Than Donald Trump, While Farm Bankruptcies Rise 46%: ‘He Is Over There Making A Great Deal For Us’

The bankruptcy numbers did not get the memo

Kansas Republican Senator Roger Marshall showed up on Newsmax this week, talking up President Trump’s negotiations with China over soybean deals. He claimed that nobody has done more for American agriculture or rural America than Trump and a Congress made up only of Republicans. Journalist Aaron Rupar shared the clip on X, and, as expected, the comment section lit up.

Marshall told Newsmax viewers that Americans can trust Trump when it comes to making deals, citing China’s soybean commitment as a sign of real support for rural America.

“We trust in Trump. He’s over there making a great deal for us,” Marshall said. “Nobody has done more for American agriculture and rural America than President Trump and a Republican-only Congress.”

But he left out some important details, like the spike in farm bankruptcies, the year China bought zero soybeans from the U.S., and the tough realities farmers in Kansas and the rest of the Midwest are facing right now.

Data shows farm bankruptcies kept climbing in 2025. The American Farm Bureau Federation reported 315 Chapter 12 filings, which is a 46% jump from 216 in 2024.

U.S. agricultural exports to China dropped by $7.4 billion, a 54% decline from January through August 2025, according to an analysis of USDA trade data.

In 2025, total farm production costs were forecast at about $467.5 billion, which is about $12 billion higher than in 2024. The Center for American Progress indicated that more than half of all US farms are experiencing net losses, while the USDA and Farm Bureau describe the prospects as mixed, with higher expenses countered by strong livestock income and government assistance.

Internet Reacts to Kansas Senator Roger Marshall’s Claim

The replies arrived with receipts. “You don’t break something, put it back like it was, and claim you fixed it,” one person wrote. Another questioned the delivery itself: “How can someone be so full of it and know it but still continues spewing the same garbage?”

The pattern of phrasing caught attention, too. “Do you think there was a memo that tells these guys to say ‘never before’ and ‘nobody has done more for’ when lying about a Trump accomplishment?” one commenter asked. Someone else did a straightforward translation: “‘Nobody’s done more for agriculture than Trump’ is referring to the rising number of farm bankruptcies, apparently.”

The broader exhaustion came through in other replies. “The gaslighting from these sell-outs is off the charts. The sheer volume of utter BS spewing from their mouths non-stop — I’ve never seen anything like it in my lifetime.” One commenter zeroed in on Marshall’s specific word choice: “‘Republican-only Congress’ sounds like something you hear right before your rights disappear.”

Marshall’s home state of Kansas is a major producer of soybeans and wheat, and got hit hard by China’s retaliatory embargo. Trade experts say the whole trade war pushed China toward other soybean suppliers, like Brazil. Today, U.S. soybean exports are still running 15% to 20% lower than normal, even after the so-called deal.

It took decades to build up America’s market share, but much of it vanished almost overnight. The Kansas farmers hanging on in 2025 mostly survived thanks to government checks – not high crop prices, not new trade deals, and definitely not the record Marshall sold on Newsmax.
